take a deep breath, relax and be honest. You won't be the first person scared out of their wit.

As an admissions counselor, all I can say is that I am impressed with the students who know what they want. While I don't mind helping prospective students figure out what they want, it is the students that come in knowing what they want and asking questions to help get them where they need to be that really impress me. These students come in confident, but aren't show-offs. They've done their research about the school, but aren't know-it-alls. They come in friendly, intelligent, well-versed, and give a sense that my school is what they really want, and we're not just a second-place contingency plan. Confidence is key, but knowledge is power.

Relax. It's their job to talk with you and get to know you a little. Don't look at it as a do or die situation - it's tough, I know. Try to see it as a learning experience and an opportunity.

They don't want to hear 'impressive' answers. They want to be impressed by the person you are. Be yourself. Speak clearly, stay away from idioms such as "Like" (He was like so loud!) "ALL" (He was all, and I was so all we were all like you know...) and "You know". Sit up straight, be relaxed and be yourself.
