He played just using the neck of the guitar, sorry don't know the technical name for this type of playing.

I don't know the old grey whistle test. But it sounds like Stanley Jordan who played Eleanor Rigby with that style of playing (tapping).

He's an amazing jazz guitarist, it is included on an album by him called "Magic Touch" (1985).
