My male guppy died, found him one morning stuck to the filter o.O along with one of my tetras. well, female is doing fine, but this morning noticed that there was a single guppy fry swimming around *i cant catch him and put him in the breeding nest, hes too fast but he seems to be doing fine, not alot of fish in the tank and none of them seem to be bothering him* i put my female guppy in the breeding nest but she doesnt seem to be giving anymore birth. is one fry normal or did the other fish eat them?? o.O if this guy lives i shall have to give him a very heroic name.

should i keep the female in the breeding nest in case she gives birth to more? i was told to remove the female after she gives birth because she will eat the babies...but if i put in the little fry dude she may eat him. is he better off outside the nest for the time being? there are plenty of plants for him to hide in and the tetras dont seem to notice him. *i only have 1 guppy (female) 4 neon tetras and 1 plecostamos*

The others were likely eaten but if you want to save the last little guy you can use a clean turkey baster that has not been used for anything else. Go buy a new one and wash it out with water, no soap. You can use it to suck the fry up and put him in the baby breeder. We did this a lot when we were raising platy fry. Just remember to hold your finger over the end of the baster after you've sucked him up or he may drip out. Also, make sure he makes it out when you relase the suctioned water into the breeder. It helps to have hiding spots for them. I noticed my platy fry liked to hide between the breeder and the tank wall.

The baby fry were most likely eaten before you ever noticed that there was a birth. The female will give birth again in about4-5 weeks. When she looks gravid, put it into the trap and don't put her back with the babies. The filter may have sucked up the tiny babies.Use filter with a good strainer tube or use a sponge filter on an air pump,or a sponge cover on the tube of the power filter..Make a 10-20% water change every 2 days, sucking up decayed food, and don't overfeed.Feed them a tiny amount several times a day for the first 2-3 weeks.

It is possible that only one fry was born, but it is more likely that the others were eaten by the adults.
If you want to increase his chance for survival, throw in lots of plants - real or silk - for cover. Rocks, too, are good - like volcanic rock, with lots of holes. If he can manage to stay hidden for another few weeks, he'll be big enough to not be eaten. You can feed him some powedered fish food, but he'll manage to find his own too, too, among the gravel and plants.
