I look for a couple of things when it comes to the people i consider friends
a) honestly- i don't need friends who are going to lie to me about something even if it will hurt my feelings
b) dependable- if your my friend and i'm in need and it is something that you can help me out with. come through
c) love- platonic love, if you do not care for this person male or female then they are not your friend they are just someone you know and hang out with sometimes.

They are responsive and they share. They help the friend by doing things for them or giving supporting words when they need it. They are honest and openly tell the friend what could help them, out of concern, not out of judgment. They are open to adapting themselves, will make time for you, and will listen. They acknowledge you, want to be with you, and care about your life (and show it by asking questions and remembering important things you've told them, following up on them). They give you things (information and gifts), are happy to see you (and tell you/show it), and make plans with you. They often laugh with you, will cry with you, and show mutual affection. Someone who does not show caring is an acquaintance, not a friends. We all have too many acquaintances and not enough friends (at least I do). So be a rare person...a friend!

Honesty, trust, acceptance, and respect. Those are the qualities that I look for in a friendship as well as loyalty.

People have various needs and wants in life. But for me, a great friend is accepting of who and how I really am,....honest with me, even when it hurts.
My closest friends are the ones who enlighten me, without trying to change me..
