big contract by a team. I dont know why they would base it on that one single performance. He has never been consistent and it showed in the season. Many of these dumb owners just base it on the playoffs. oh well i wonder who is going to fall flat on their face. What do you guys think?

It is stupid. Rhodes only rushed for 100 yrds or more once this year and it was against the bears. Joe is where its at.

Yeah, the crazy way the owners throw money around to flashes in the pan Rhodes will now get his big pay day off his superbowl performance and since the Colts are basically capped out it will be with a new team. I don't think Rhodes is a every down back, but only time will tell.

I wouldn't say he would be a top-tier feature back, but one of the reasons he didn't have a lot of 100 yard games this year is because he split carries with Addai. Addai barely had over 1000 yards this year (which is only like 80 yards per game) and he had more carries than rhodes. Don't get me wrong im not sayin rhodes is a stud or anything, but I think he could be a consistent starting RB if someone needed him to be. The problem is there are so many good RBs these days, who would actually need him to start, without someone getting hurt first?

Anyways, I think he is a decent, durable back. Not a guy who is gonna break 60+ yard runs, but he can hold his own. Seems like Indy should resign him though so they have two dependable backs.

Unfortunately that is the nature of the business in the NFL. "What have you done for me lately" is the mentality of coaches and managers. During the playoffs, Rhodes was a big part of the Colts championship, and because of that, he will be rewarded with a fat contract. There are teams struggling with their running games that will love to throw money at a super bowl winning running back to improve their backfield. If Rhodes is smart he will stay with Indy for less money and get his best shot at another ring, but he will take the money and go to a non-playoff team just to be #1.

Well he's definitley not going to resign with Colts. With the cap problems they already have, they arent going to sign him so they can have two running backs. Personally I think he is a good back. Not fantastic but a guy who season after season can get 1,000 plus yard and about 5-10 TD's. A good vet back for a young team. Please take notice Lions. Draft Quinn and sign Rhodes in the free agency and some other defenders and I gurantee you, you will finish at least 8-8.

Its really easy to bash a running back when he shares half of his time with another running back. Perhaps he's not consistant because he only works half-time on the field. Less time on the field, less experience, less consistancy. You have to look at Rhodes and Addai as a team put 1600 yards on the ground duing the 16 regular season games...and that's not including the 1000 yards in receiving between them.
That sounds like a great team to me.

Like it or not, if you step on the field in a super bowl and win, your value automatically goes way up. It's the way it is and always has been. I don't think Rhodes is a premiere back, but more power to him for getting the money while he's hot.

No he wont get a big contract. The superbowl was his first 100yd rushing game since 2001. Even dumb owners can see that he just had a really good game

Rhodes is quick to hit the hole and has good hands coming out of the backfield. He'll make a nice change of pace back for someone next season.

I think some team will raise his value, but even with his performance, teams will see that the O-line created those holes for him in that game and see him as a 3rd down back only.
