Peacock ore is a common name for bornite(Cu5FeS4). Which is a copper iron sulfide. Usually formed by the precipitation of metal bearing sulphur waters are released from pressure underground.
bornite is usually associated with chalcocite (Cu2S) and chalcopyrite (CuFeS2). Bornite is mined commercially for its copper and is an important economic mineral.
