Because deep down inside, we hope to find that one person we can spend the rest of our lives with. Plus it's fun.

That's not how you're supposed to be thinking if you're entering a relationship. Many relationships last forever, until one of the pair dies. You're looking at the glass as "half empty" and with that attitude, you will end up ending any relationship, whether it's a good one or a not so good one.

Sooner or later, trees get old and die. Why plant trees?
Sooner or later, houses burn down, fall down, or get blown over by hurricanes or tornadoes. Why build houses?
Sooner or later, people grow old and die. Why have babies?
We do it because trees provide materials for life - an environment for birds, leaves that decay and enrich the soil, and lumber to build houses. Houses provide shelter and protection for people. People enrich our lives when we know them and love them and we become a family with them. And maybe, if you can have children together, you plant a family tree, and the cycle begins again.

The pure and only reason that people date is because of chemicals in the brain that stimulate pleasure. This is fact. Hollywood romanticizes it WAY too much. Relationships are an instinctive and animalistic means to procreate. So basically, we're all slaves of our unconscious brains. The truth sucks, I think.

To have fun. Dating doesn't have to lead to a life-long relationship. Some people just do it to go out and have a good time for as long as it's still fun.

Not all relationships end...and not all end badly. It takes time sometimes to find that right fit.
Never let that bad times ruin any hopes for the future.
Also if you happen to find that right one...learn to work it out.
