Am I a hypocrite?

Question

A few months back I bought a coat that was described as "faux fur" on ebay. As soon as I unwrapped it I was suspicious. I contacted the seller who honestly thought it wasn't real but I couldn't work out whether it was a good fake or the real thing, so it's hung in my wardrobe ever since. I am anti fur and didn't feel I could give it away/sell it without being sure.

I've just found out it is a type of sheepskin and I'm still not sure what to do - I feel weird about giving it away, keeping it or selling it. I have owned sheepskin/suede coats in the past, wear leather shoes and eat meat. Half my head thinks "I eat meat and it would be wrong not to make the best use of an animal that has provided me with nourishment" but other half thinks "just because it is sheep rather than fox or mink doesn't excuse me owning this coat." Am I a hypocrite? I know I'm not only person this has happened to, there's alot of suspiciously real looking fakes about. No hysterical ranting please

Hey Fiona, have you looked at ebay recently, it's full of real fur and if you send any emails to members objecting to what they are selling you get suspended!! you name it, it's on there - I just typed in "fox fur" and got nearly 100 results! Disgusting, I know.

listen sheep skin is not fur, and although it is from a dead animal it is not like a farmed mink and the like,

Basically we don't need to wear fur because there are other materials available. If it's dog or cat fur they will have been literally skinned alive for that coat. If it is real fur you might find yourself targeted by some very objectionable folks when you wear it in public, who's actions I would condone but I wouldn't do it myself! Also, you're not allowed to sell fur on eBay for seller safety reasons, maybe that's why they said it was fake?

You are being misled by fanatics, the fashion industry and political correctness. Natural furs are far better for human beings to wear in every respect as they allow the skin to breathe and do not pose an electro magnetic disturbance as man made fibres do to your central nervous system. One should also ensure the lining is cotton or silk as opposed to polyester. It is particularly important for children to wear only cotton and wool as opposed to plastic based synthetic materials. At home children should be allowed to run barefoot where practical and only 100% cotton nappies used for babies. Shoes also should be leather based as far as possible. One does not have to indulge in rare animal skins to dress, this is common sense but man made fibres are detrimental in every respect compared to animal skins. In artic conditions man made fibres cannot tolerate extremely low temperatures and will freeze and shatter leaving the user exposed to the elements. Enjoy your real fur.

purely Allah (swt) is conscious who's a hypocrite and who isn't. He is conscious what's in our hearts. additionally, its no longer our job to choose one yet another on that, purely recommend. How can somebody who calls others hypocrites be so specific that he's loose from hypocrisy himself? Salaams

Well people have been wearing fur for at least 300,000 years so don't let our present , naive "politically correct" generation influence your decision..

Besides, what exactly is wrong with being a hypocrite? the term is meaningless, you will find as you get older. EVERYONE is a hypocrite to a greater or lesser extent.
