I changed pills from Ortho Tricyclen Lo to Loestrin 24. I missed a pill and I didn't get my period at all. I started the next pack already. I have never missed a period. Is it normal when switching birth control or should I be worried?

It's possible, certainly, especially with your type of pill. Loestrin 24 only has 4 days of nonmedicine pills (instead of 7 days for ortho-tri-lo), so your periods are supposed to be greatly shortened If you have a long breakthrough time, they may be eliminated. And the first month on any new b.c. method is likely to be a bit wonky.

Just to be on the safe side, I do suggest you pick up an over-the-counter pregnancy test (assuming you are sexually active) and take it. It'll ease your mind, if nothing else.

I switched to that same medication from Estrostep and missed my period all together for 4 months and it made me feel really depressed and irritable. I wouldn't reccomend this medication to anyone, docs just give it out if they don't have samples to give you of your reg. medication. They tend to make more money on Loestrin since it's a new med. Good luck, I hope this helps!
