Is this a trick question?

The closest we came to an honest politician was Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. These two presidents became aware of corruption in government and vigorously fought against it. They both died on our behalf.

Peter Rodino, he chaired the Watergate committee. He was chosen for his complete honesty. Amazing someone like hin could last so long in politics but he did. At the time he was about the only one in Washington up to the task. I do believe this still holds true today even though he is deceased. Some of the politicians should take pages from his "book"

honest politician. It depends on what the meaning of honest is. Once you have figured out what the meaning of the word honest is, you will be able to determine who was the last honest politician in Washington. I think you will be able to form a new question.. Who will be the first honest politician in Washington.

I'd say Jimmy Carter--and Gerald Ford (just to keep things balanced!).

I'm sure there some honest ones in Congress as well--at least if they havn't been there to long.

I think, and even a former enemy as Fidel Castro was quoted as saying that Jack Kennedy was basically honest. There's also a category for ' incompetent ' and ' stooge ' if not outright ' figurehead.'

Jimmy Carter, and before him, Barry Goldwater. Maybe Eisenhower before that.

You don't have to like someone to respect their integrity.
