having read the article, it seems to me that ron paul steps out of line with the party he is affiliated with frequently, and this upsets 'mainstream' republicans. some of the social views he advocates may well be aceptable to the majority of other politicians someday, but for now they might be termed 'radical'. (medical use of marijuana, for one.)

his tendency to take the federal government out of social and legal questions and allow the states and the courts to carry the ball instead is refreshing to me, so long as judges are fairly appointed. the state of virginia for one allows the party in power the final say in ALL judicial appointments. scary? you bet. state's rights aren't ALWAYS right.

from browsing the link, i 'd say mr. paul has proven himself to be resourceful and controversial, willing to put his political success on the line for what he strongly believes in. political suicide, some would say.

would i vote for him? that all depends on the opponent, but when looking for a 'different' approach, i think i'm more likely to turn to dennis kucinich. unfortunately, for the same reasons as above, i fear neither one has a realistic chance of doing anything more than causing people to think differently. which after all, isn't a bad thing...

He looks like he is in the middle with some things that appeal to Republicans, some that appeal to Democrats, and some ideas that are embraced or rejected by both Democrats and Republicans. He is where he needs to be in the middle.

He used to be a Libertarian and so I would expect him to lean a little to the right. He seems to have seen the light and became less radical.

I am neither Conservative nor Liberal. If I have to label myself it is progressive centerist.

I wouldn't vote for him.. I do agree with some of his ideas.. for instance I agree that abortion should be a state issue.. but I don't agree with his belief in the gold standard and I think gay marriage is either a federal issue or that no government should be involved at all.. as opposed to his view of it being a state issue... I like his stance on terrorism and Iraq, but he has the feel of the pre-WW II republicans.. the isolationists... and I don't agree with that.. so again, I would not vote for him.. I am a democrat.

I would really have to read more about his views before I made a decision. I do not agree with his position on the war in Iraq. If I had to base my decision on what I briefly scanned through on hi bio. I would say no. Republican.

this guy is still a libertarian he just realized he couldnt get elected as one.
Libertarian candidates would be more viable if they would drop the pro marijuana position and also no defend groups like nambla.

Libertarians such as him are very split goin to the extreme on both sides... super liberal on social issues, super conservative on fiscal and foreign policy issues.

And its tough becuase you are always going to be making someone mad.

I like some of his issues. I dont like others. voting for him would all depend on who else was running.

I'd never vote for him.Much too right for my taste. However would love to see him get the Republican nomination or run as an independent to let the conservative vote split

Having had personal contact with Paul, I can say he is a bible-thumping, gun-toting American.

Sometimes on the right, sometimes on the left.

He is disgusted with the current admin, and works with demos quite often.

in 2008, there will be no grassroots candidate, if a candidate doesn't have money he's done, sorry Ron Paul, maybe he can be president of his local school board

No, mainly because of his stance on Iraq.

I agree with his views on limited government, but that's a political loser.

Conservative.
