Or as long as you speak something that they like.
There are numerous examples of them attacking people for different point of view. (Just take any "peace" rally, not speaking about "pro israel" rallie, where they attack peacfull demostrators)

Not even close. If they defended free speech, they wouldn't be supporting the so-called "fairness doctrine." For those who don't know, that's a proposed law that would require radio stations to give equal time to opposing viewpoints. In other words, Rush Limbaugh's program would have to be balanced with 3 hours of liberal talk shows. The fact that the liberal radio station couldn't get enough listeners to stay afloat is beside the point. Nothing like free market here, and what the listeners want doesn't matter. It's basically welfare for the liberal point of view (conservative talk shows are paid for by advertising, but not enough people listen to the liberal talk shows for advertisers to buy time. I guess the radio station would have to suck up the cost).
Of course, newspapers don't have to devote column inches to the opposing view; newspapers are overwhelmingly liberal, so the market rules.
TV new shows don't have to devote time to the opposing view; TV new shows are overwhelmingly liberal, so the market rules.
Hollywood movie studios don't have to devote equal time or dollars to the opposing view; Hollywood is overwhelmingly liberal, so the market rules.
Just radio. Radio talk shows are overwhelmingly conservative, so the market must not be allowed to rule here; that would be "unfair."

Of course liberals defend free speech. Note that the ACLU is predominantly comprised of liberals--who have defended some of the most hateful abuses of free speech that there are, like the Ku Klux Klan. The test of free speech is each person's ability to ONLY yell back at the person shouting what you'd fight for the rest of your life against.
Physical attacks by liberal protesters are incredibly rare, and usually are part of a mob mentality which is equally shared by the people they fight against.
Liberals protect free speech. There have been liberal soldiers, you know. Yes, and they fight for the principles of our Constitution. Liberals voted against curtailing our freedoms with the Patiot Act and subsequent rights-consuming legislation.
I even support your right to ask this frivolous question.

Throughout history in the US Liberals talk with very little action. I wonder if WW 1 and WW2 would have been won by the US if these liberals had the power?

Only when what is spoken is in line with what they believe. The only thing about their free speech ideas that bothers me is that it's two faced.
Leroy Comrie (Democrat) wants to ban the word "n i g g e r", but there is no such bans being suggested or introduced on other offensive words.

You write: "There are numerous examples of them attacking people for different point of view."
Which has nothing to do with free speech. If a member of the Klan gave a public speech promoting racism, I would attack their character (verbally) but I would not support any effort to outlaw their right to speak.

well, the problem is... people like you incite them and then yell "they don't protect free speech"...
but you don't cite any specific examples... and I've been on the website and only saw a few people that may possibly be hampering someone else's freedom of speech...
the simple fact is... there are about 5 examples that I know of where this happened... and the ACLU has thousands of examples of defending MANY people's free speech that they don't agree with...

They want you to say what they want you to say. Hell, I've noticed quite a few wanting govt to control the media. Plus political correctness is just another way of giving the FCC more control.

Not from what I can see. When a conservative person is slated to speak at a university near here they pack the auditorium and heckle and hiss during their whole speech.
Where's the free speech or open mind there?
