It started out light for 2 weeks very dark brown and flowed on and off, was almost black. Now it is normal and is the way it usually is..i don't understand what that was before it.

There could be a couple of different things going on here. The best thing to do, especially to help set your mind to ease, is to go to your GYN and get yourself checked out.

If you have no family history or personal history of problems - i.e. endometriosis, fibroids etc - then it is probably nothing to worry about. Sometimes old blood gets trapped and your body needs to shed it.

To make sure it's not something much more serious - such as a bleeding cyst - be sure to get checked out by your doctor asap. Especially since you've been bleeding for so long. Also make sure your minerial and iron intake is at the proper levels. Losing blood can make you feel sick and light headed and weaken your body's immune system.

How old are you? It could be menopausal, even if you are relatively young.

Could it be possible you were pregnant and you are miscarrying?

Hormones are funny things, all sorts of things can affect them, your diet, percentage of body fat, toxins in the environment, stress.

It's probably an aberration, assuming you're not hemorrhaging. Give it a month or two to see what happens.

I have had that before. Many times. Usually, brown or black before or after your period is your body getting rid of old blood. If it persists, or you think its unusual it wouldn't hurt to call your doctor, but that's probably all it is.
