Hi, I bought a hp DVD burner, I dont want to use my laptop burner?

Question

I received an emailexplaining how to change it, below is the emaili received.
I received this answer in regards in changing D drive to an external burner E?
This was a good answer (below) but It doesn't give me a choice for E drive in step 9 If any one knows the problem please help.

1. start menu, run
2. type mmc, click ok
3. press Ctrl+M
4. click add...
5. select disk management, click add, then click finish
6. click close, then click ok
7. click disk management on the sidebar
8. find cd rom 0 (or similar), right click it
9. click change drive letters or paths
10. select D:, click change
11. select new drive letter, click ok

than i received an answer because E drive wasnt an option,The selection starts from F drive, Now i got a respond saying
that E may be used for something else, How can I make my external Hp Light scribe my primary burner?
Please help???????????
