Why are rocks so valuable? (besides the fact that they're hard to find)

Good point Don. If you have to resort to valuable things to make someone love you well you might consider asking yourself if it's even worth it. I'm not saying that gifts are bad however. Once in a while.

well first off I wouldn't generalize that all rocks are valuable, only the ones that have a relatively high degree of utility, aesthetics, or rarity. So what better to give to your loved one than a rock that has all such qualities? Perhaps your love and commitment, just my two cents.

I like your question, though I can not tell you who started the saying, only that it spread like a v***s.When I saw a large diamond protruding from the left ear lobe of a man, I thought of the saying, of the diamond as a show of love. and so I proceeded to think the man must have surely loved him self.

This is not love at all, it is insecurity. The idea that love needs to be proved is ridicules.
