After he got hosed in last year's contest, I don't blame him.

I think Iguodala realizes that if he entered the contest this year, he'd only get ****** out of the title again. Plus he has a greater task at hand trying to be the leader of a struggling franchise. As bad as the Sixers are, they're still a contender in the Atlantic Division. that's got to be on his mind. Guys like Nate Robinson will continue to play in those contests for the payday and the fame and that's all they'll be remembered for. Iguodala's gotta think bigger than that.

This years dunk contest is kind of confusing. On the upside of it, Gerald Green is going to dominate, obviously, and win over Tyrus Thomas in the final round. Both excellent dunkers, Gerald being as acrobatic as the next guy, and Tyrus having a suprising amount of agility for a kid his size.
But, Dwight Howard and Nate Robinson kind of confuse me. Dwight's not that flashy when he throws down, but he does it with such authority, I wouldn't be suprised if he beat out Tyrus by breaking the backboard. And Nate, well, he's a joke. We've seen everything he has in his arsenal because of his 30 something attempts at a relatively easy dunk last year, and saw the sneaky little theif rob Iguodala. Plain and simple.
Iggy probably doesn't want to do it again because of getting so robbed last year. I don't blame him either, he threw in one of the more creative dunks we've seen in recent years and got the trophy snatched right out of his hands. It's no wonder he's not down to do it again, who wants to be gipped twice?
If I had it my way (the ways things should be) this dunk contest would have Gerald Green headlining it, so at least they got that right. Following Green I'd bring in Rodney Carney off the 76ers. I've seen some of his stuff from Memphis, and the NCAA dunk contest last year, and the man is amazing in the air. Next, I'd bring the lesser known James White. Yes, less people know his name, but the facts stand that 1-More people SHOULD know his name, and 2- We have a good reason TO know his name. He's notorious for his "Through-the-legs-from-foul-line" dunk, which is freakin' ridiculous to see. And finally, in the fourth spot, I'm slightly impartial. I guess Tyrus and Dwight would be solid choices, but they don't wow me like the others. I would like to see Dwight break the backboard a la Mekhi Phifer in the terrible movie "O."
Gerald Green, Rodney Carney, James White, and Dwight Howard. I think that would have been the dunk contest to see, but oh well, we'll just have to settle for Gerald making a fool of Nate Robinson, just as he should, and see Dwight and Tyrus try to have some fun.
We'll see how it goes this weekend. Later.

Fine with it. He already won and got robbed last year. He has nothing left to gain by being in the contest. Let him get some rest over the All-Star break for once in his career. He's going to need it to continue carrying the sixers in the second half (even if it continues to get them further away from Durant-Oden).
Carney would have been a better choice for this year, out of anyone on the sixers that is (or most other teams for that matter)

I wish he was in the dunk contest. But I understand him not being in it because he was cheated last year. Plus no one really wants to do it anymore. Lebron refuses, Wade won't do it, Josh Smith won't even do it.

It's lame. I think he should be in it, James White should definitely be in it. He's the only dude I've ever seen who could dunk from the free-throw line with both hands. And he does it with ease!!!

At this point it really doesn't matter. Gerald Green has this one in the bag. Just give him the trophy now.
