Create that smokey eye effect with dark shadow (black or gray) or pencil liner. Smudge a bit with a Q-tip for a sexy look. Apply extra coat of mascara for more dramatic effect. Also, using darker shadows (plums, dark blues etc.) will give you more of an evening look. You can alsu use bronzer for face and cleavage to make it look sparkly.

During the day, just try to use basic coverage. Never over do it. Natural shades that just even skin tone and brighten ur skin should be all ur looking for during the day. Use a neutral, base eyeshadow to brighten ur eyes, and a clear lip gloss.
At night, glam up your make up by playing up your eyes. This is the only area u need to work on in order to differentiate daytime and night time make-up. Use dark shimmery shades at night. The smokey look is great for going out. Use dark eyeliner (should not be worn during the day), and a lenghtening mascara to enlarge ur eyes. If u have dark eyes, use deep greys, charcoals and top of with a lighter shimmery shade. Or try shimmery brown for the summery, tanned look. If u have light eyes, u can still pull off the smokey look but just dont go as dark with the shades your using.
Also, always make sure u remove make-up u have had on during the day and apply new make-up at night. It will be fresher and look better. This will also give your skin time to breathe between applications. Skin that is constantly covered in make-up can dry up very easily, making it more difficult to get a flawless look.
Just be adventurous with ur evening make-up and have fun with it, but dont go over the top. Check out www.maccosmetics.com for really good looks for both day and night time.
Hope this helps!

The perfect transiton from day to night.
Barely there to smoky eye.
During the day you can wear some brown eyeliner on your top and bottom lash line. Use an eyeshadow about two shades darker than your skin tone and apply it in the creases of your eyes. Then dust a shadow one shade lighter then skin tone on your lids. Black mascara works best, but for a more subtle look go for brown. Apply a pink or coral lipstick or lipgloss.
When getting ready to go out, on top of your day makeup, apply black liner. Line your bottom lids. Put the black liner all the way up to your eye creases on your top lid. Blend the liner in so it fades just above the crease. Dust a deep gray shadow where you applied the liner. Use a blush the color the inside of your lip, and blend it in on your cheekbones. Use a lipstick or lipgloss that is two shades darker then what you use in the day.

I used to work in an office and often found that transforming day looks to night was necessary as I didn't have time to go home and change.
For work I would wear a pretty camisole top and a plain black skirt. I would wear a black suit jacket over the top at work and take it off when I went out. I would always keep a pair of high heels in my desk drawer and a spare pair of pants and tights and change before leaving work.
For day make-up I would wear light foundation / powder / blush / nude lipstick and mascara.
To change it to evening I would wear a glossier lipstick and put some brown eyeliner under my eyes and smudge them. I also used some Touche Eclat under my eyes to erase any work day circles. I used some bronzer instead of blusher to give myself some colour and down the sides of my nose and on my temples, jawline and between my boobs. If my hair was tied up in a ponytail, I would brush it out, wax down any stray hairs and hairspray it and change my stud earrings for some diamond stud ones or dangly ones. I would also spritz on some more evening-type perfume like Agent Provocateur or Gucci Envy. Then I was good to go and no one could tell I'd just been at work unless I told them.

Darker lips and eyes are for night time. When I want a more night look I'll also wear eyeliner whereas I normally wouldn't. I also wear lipstick at night rather than a lip gloss. I'll also contrast my eyeshadow differently. Try shading with different color palattes. False eyelashes create a more dramatic look too. Play around with a bunch of things and I'm sure you'll come up with something you like. You can also take what you do for the daytime and just make it more dramatic in general, overdo it.

During the day just use one shade of eyeshadow . Use a natural mascara, like the brown, and use a nice lipstick that goes well. Then at night use an eyeshadow that comes with 3 colors that blend well, use a more dramatic mascara, and eyeliner. Add lip liner to the lipstick for a more dramatic effect there. Play around with the colored eyeliners and mascaras like maroon or blue depending on your eye and hair color. I think if you find something that works for you, it can become your signature look. Then at night enhance it with more!

I wonderful style icon from New York taught me this trick. And its a really good one. Never remove your day makeup when applying your night makeup. Just apply your evening look right over it. It gives you a better sense of how much further to go in comparison, plus it saves lots of time for partying.

the way to do this is to go for a more subtle look during the day and you can switch it up a bit at night time for people to notice. during the day. i try not to be very creative with colours and use natural looking eye shadows and blushers. nude, brown and subtle pink are ok for day time. at nite you could then go for heavier, more colourful and darker colours
