Well a number of things.... according to Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity, anything that has mass is forbidden from attaining the speed of light. As an object gets closer and closer to the speed of light, some very strange things happen to it: First it stretches out in the direction of travel and becomes more and more two dimensional (length contraction). Also it becomes more and more massive, so much so that in order to achieve the speed of light its mass would become infinite, meaning that it would require an infinite amount of energy to accelerate it and, lastly, time would slow down in the objects frame of reference compared to an object that was left behind where it began its journey. In theory there is nothing to prevent you from going %99.999999 of the speed of light, but C is only for light and other massless forms of energy.

anything with mass cannot travel the speed of light, it can get close, like .999 the speed of light, but never the speed of light. so to travel at the speed of light figure out a way to get rid of all your mass, good luck! haha

Time.
If you continually divide a second in half eventually the last division will cause it to go out of existence.
Light is an incident that takes time to occur if you could split the second again you could increase the speed of light.

Energy.

As you move faster, it takes more energy to accelerate you because you get heavier. It takes infinite energy to travel at lightspeed.
