I am 34 years old and I have never been pregnant :( I have used NuvaRing for the last two years. My normal date for removal was this last friday. On the 12 of Jan (ironically - end date of my last ring) I started a round of 10 days of antibiotics (Keflex). On the weekend of the 26th I had an unexpected chance to see my boyfriend - wasn't thinking of antibiotics. Had unprotected sex all weekend.
When I returned home I had extreme emotions (like PMS, but out of normal timing and for an entire week - for me, abnormal). The punchline is, since the beginning of last week I have been constantly exhausted and no appetite. Last wed I had a heavy brown/grey? discharge for about two days. Yesterday and today I have had minor spotting.
I've tested, and they show negative - but I understand it may be too early to tell.
If that was implantation last week, how long before the hormones should show in a test?

I bled for a few weeks into my pregnancy for my first son.
It was scary, but not damaging to him.
I would wait another week, take a test, then if the results are uncertain, see your doctor.
Good luck.

Hi - if you have had unprotected sex then there is every likely hood you could be pregnant. your emotional state is more probably due to the anti-biotics and or the removal. you can buy hpt that will give you a result as early as 4 days before your period is due - you will not get a positive until your body is producing enough hormone for the test to detect it - this can take 2 weeks. however, it may be possible for your doctor to perform a blood test - but normally they will wait until you have missed a period. i think you may need to let your body settle down having had the ring removal etc.
hope this helps
xx

You can test 2 weeks after the unprotected sex. Then I would test again at 3 weeks just in case. Also blood tests are accurate earlier.

When you miss your period. Take a test. Sometimes you can be PG and take a home test and recieve a negative result. If you want 100% accuracy go in for a blood test. But wait and take a home test first!
Good luck!

It's hard to tell if this was caused by pregnancy or the antibiotic or what. If you really think you are, go get a blood test.

Several recent studies have shown that NuvaRing is not affected by the use of antibiotics. You are probably not pregnant.

Wait until you're actually late with a period and then try a urine test. Even then, you may still get negative even if you're pregnant. so, wait a week and try again if still no period.
