Do you think it’s plausible for someone to learn how to skate and play ice hockey over the summer and be really competative toward making a team in September? This is for a college Division II team.

Mind you the fella is extremely into ice hockey... he's one of those kids that excels in every sport... he has that passionate drive to be the best.

the kid is in the gym 2-3 days a week and eating healthy.

I just dont know if he can learn what needs to be learned in a year to make the team... what do you think?? I mean is it ppssible?

it really depends on how good the kids are in the area. my grandfather, my father, 2 uncles, 3 brothers, and two sisters along with a slew of friends from highschool all played hockey. everyone i knew played since they were kids. i don't mean to discourage anyone though. everyone is different, and who knows this kid could be some type of hockey prodigy, but he will never know if he doesn't try. i say go for it. what's the worst that can happen? if he doesn't make it he can always sign up for a men's league.

It depends- hockey is a sport so differant in the fact that you need to be good at skating. If he has never skated I would say possible but very doubtful. It would depend on how he learns and who teaches him as well. This isn't a "pick it up on your own" type of sport. I wish him luck...but if he hasn't played hockey before...then getting on a D-II team would be tough. I'm sure it is possible though.

if he's doing all that and he can skate, i dont see why not. He sounds like a pretty good kid. as long as he puts everything into it he should succeed fast, i hope everything goes well for him, tell him to keep working out and he should be fine.
