Ohh I do applaud the person who said donate the money to animal welfare. We know how desperately those organizations need our support and by golly they do some sterling work.
I would be disinclined really to give one "deserving person" a whole ten thousand clams, as I would have absolutely no way to control that they actually used the money for a deserving purpose. That kind of money can tempt a person, no matter how "deserving" they may be, to go a little "off the rails"
We have a wonderful relationship with our local Pharmacy, and it has served our prescription requirements for many years. I know that their customers include many older people in need of expensive medications, and other folks in hard circumstances who fall sick and need drugs for which they have no coverage. I would be able to absolutely trust these good folk to dispense medicines to different individuals in this category, and bill me for the amount.
We've got some fairly close friends and neighbors too, who have hit some financial rocks in their road in the last few years. It would give us a real "kick in the head" lol, to be able to hand them a few hundred dollars' windfall. Assuming there was no time limit within which I had to dispense the whole ten grand, I think I might just invest, maybe half of it in some really good, secure, quality stock, and leave the principle there, but draw out the interest at intervals and use it to continue to help a person in need. That way, I could actually create much more than the original ten thousand, and be able to give a little help to many more people than I otherwise would have by just using the money till it ran out.

I'd give $1,000 to 10 needy families and feel 10 times the joy for helping them in some small way.

I would give this money to my Mom because she is the most giving person I know! She helps my brother and I whenever we need anything even if she doesn't have it to give!
