Thaw and unthaw do not mean the same thing, adding un to anything turns it into the opposite of what it was. Most people say "unthaw" and it is actually quite the oxymoron. Unfortunately there are a lot of oxymorons in life, one of the funniest being that when you use the term "oxymoron", people automatically get offended, proving that they have no clue what the term actually means....

well Mr Freesumpin, some microphones actually do miniaturize the voice..i.e. your telephone hears it, miniaturizes it to send it through the line and then it comes back out at full sound on the other end...fascinating stuff
