Check to see if he's listed in the phone book. If not, and if he's in an apartment, then talk to the landlord of his apartment and tell him the situation. Otherwise, if you know the number of any of his relatives (and they don't hate you), then ask them. Voila.
Chances are, if he doesn't want you to know where he lives anymore, he probably doesn't want a gift from you.
