5 foot 11 inches = 71 inches
71 inches = 180.34 centimetres
180.34 cm ~ 1.8 metres

A reasonable approximation for feet in metres is 1 foot = 0.305 metres. So, 5 and 11/12 feet is 71/12*.305 metres = 1.8 metres.

1 m=100cm
therefore 1 inch=(2.54/100)metres
or 1 metre =(100/2.54)inches.
again 1 foot =12 inches.
therefore 1 foot=12*(2.54/100)metres.
so 5 foot means 1.524 metres and 11 inches mean .2794 metres
So total is 1.8034 metres or 180.34cm.
