Honestly I am not racist at all and I do have a lot of black friends. But I was wondering...why do you always bring up slavory? Honestly I think it was wrong...having slaves was just wrong and I agree with you but when I ask my friends they say I will never understand. I want to understand because I want to put some white friends of mine in place. Does it really affect you forever?? Please to report me I was really just trying to understand...

if it still affects them, they must blame blacks too. they sold and owned slaves too. it is crazy to worry about what a minority of americans did over one hundred years ago.

Many African Americans have a relative that is isn't so far in the past - that was a slave. It is impossible to argue that this nation is racially egalitarian, and the reasons for the imbalance is on paper, in people's families, in the cities, in government, in everywhere.

Yes, a few Africans did get into the slave business. They had no clue that what was going to happen to the people was this devastating. There is slavery in many parts of the world, but the systematic destruction of a people as it happened in the Americas is unprecedented.

You don't need to put anybody in place! The historical documents are there- as is present day reality!

I sometimes go on the culture and groups section on Yahoo France, and race is rarely brought up. I think it's a very American occupation - but, it will pass. Maybe not in my own lifetime but in the future! Keep hope alive!

The same reason the Jews still bring up the holocaust.

Althought slavery was over 200 years ago, it was only 60 years ago, where black had to sit in the back of the bus and go to seperate schools etc etc....which in essence stemmed from slavery

i don't know sometimes, i think it would affect me when someone of another race would downplay it as "that was then, this is now" considering, it was our great grandparents and we really can't trace all of our roots, do to the buying and selling of human beings. and partly because it wasn't done by aliens or animals, slavery was done by white people, whom which bleeds red blood, eat to survive, work to live etc. just like every other race. and its just not african americans who are always angry, its also the jewish and other minority who experience blatent racism.

I think they should forget about it cause well its past. You shouldnt worry about the past. What do they think the Jews go though. I dont think blacks went though what jews went though. I believe they should just stop thinking about yeah it was wrong and stupid but those were back when days were hard for some people they werent thinking what they did would go down in history. (didnt a white man stop slavory?!) I never hear any black people think him for what he did.

Iv never brought up slavery in any kind of normal conversation. If you open your eyes you'll notice whites are the only ones bringing up slavery.

400 years of slavery, and YOU KNOW what came along with that. Annihilation, rape, lynching, oppression, so WHAT IS THERE TO KNOW ABOUT IT?. What do you really wanna know about it?.
