You are too young for sex!, that's why u know ur parents will get mad. But, I praise you for taking responsibity for your actions, by thinking about contraceptives.

In your case at 16 yrs, the pills are mostly recommended for your age (in my knowledge). the other options that will make it less obvious to your parents should be diaphragm, injections, patches.
But the above are really aimed at older women or if u've already given birth is a prospect ,or so I've often heard on contraception buzz.

You can go to planned parenthood and they will give you all the information that you need. Plus they can advise you as to they type of birth control that's best for you. This is all confidential, so no your parents will not be told.

Cost is usually done on the basis of what if any thing that you can pay, so that if you can not afford it then you most likely will get it free.

Really you should be talking with your mother and letting her know what you are doing. I know that it is hard, but if you were talking with her about these things it would be so much better for you. Then if you and your mom were to decide that you should be taking the pill or what ever you wouldn't have to hide this from her. It would be easier for you to remember to take your pill ever day as you won't have to hide it and risk forgetting to take it because it is out of sight and then out of mind.

Just don't forget to take it every day, don't skip pills. And remember to take it at around the same time every day. Remember that the first month you can still get pregnant if your taking the pill, it takes a full month for it to become effective.

I know you said that you are all ready having sex with your boyfriend, it really would be better if you were not doing so as you are so young. Remember that no birth control is 100% effective. Also taking birth control will NOT protect you from getting std's so you must have pap tests done yearly.

If your going to be sexually active then protect your self by having a yearly pap test done, it just may save your life. Even if you decide not to have sex have a yearly pap test done as it can save your life.
