I have a ten team league and we did an offline draft. We got most of the managers together and had the rest of them online via messenger to make their picks.

We have nineteen men on our rosters which is 190 total players drafted. The draft last year took under two hours, b/c the first five rounds or so flew by and after that we limited picking time to two minutes to keep things moving along.

It was a lot of fun and didn't take too long either. I'd suggest you do it that way.

Good luck.

Are you using Yahoo Fantasy Sports for your league? If that is the case, then a live online draft only takes about an hour--two at the most, depending on your friends and how prepared they are. Each pick is limited to 1 minute or 1 minute 30 seconds (can't remember). If someone is unable to attend the live draft, they can pre-rank their players and Yahoo will draft for them automatically, further speeding up the process.

There are a couple ways to conduct offline drafts;

1. Get everybody together in one place. Good luck with that one.
2. Conduct it via e-mail. I've done this many times and it can take FOREVER. If one guy is away from his computer/cell phone for a night, the whole draft is stalled.
3. You can also conduct via a chatroom, but this will end up taking much longer than Yahoo's online draft because you won't be able to police the time between selections.

If time is your biggest concern and you are using Yahoo's Fantasy League, your best bet is an online draft.

I don't know what you should do but if your teams want to be more active they could do an auction draft so everybody could be in the draft for the whole time. You can do an offline draft at fantasyauctioneer.com.

There is no charge to register but just don't do drafts that cost money.
