Try to keep contact with your friends, at the very least contact them now and then. Remember they are in a different place in their lives than you are, so just let them go on about what is important to them. That is what being a friend is all about. I have more friends now than I did when I was younger, and I try to take the time to be there for them. It's not easy with working full time, a husband at home I enjoy doing things with, and other home obligations, but it's important to have your friends, too. Good luck.

I don't have as many friends as I did when I was a kid, but hte quality of my friendships is much better. The friends I do have I know are friends and they are lasting friendships!
Hope this helps!
I think that true friends understand that life...gets in the way with time spent and what not, maybe your current friends are just not on the same life path as you, and that is part of life the friends we have when we are younger aren't always the same friends we will have when we get older, people change...views life goals etc hard to stay in touch or keep in touch with those with different life views goals etc....

Right now I have a number of friends (I'm 42). At other times in my adult life I've had few or even none (not really good friends anymore, more like close acquaintances).
Friendships are different when we are adults than when we were kids...we've got more to deal with in life (jobs, family, partner, etc) and sometimes it's hard to meet others with common interests whom we like and want to spend time with.
Your issue, I think, isn't that you don't have time to talk about boyfriend issues and shopping, but that those things don't currently interest you. I'll bet if those people wanted to talk about careers and college, you'd have time to discuss and analyze it. If the people you hang out with don't have similar interests to yours, then don't hang around them much...you will eventually meet those who have the same priorities that you do.

my mum has always said that when you get older you will be able to count your "true" friends on your hands.
I'm 24 and have just brought my own business, and it is straining some of my relationships but i think that it should not matter, true friends can pick it up from when you left them last.
Two of my best mates i have not spoken to for 1 month ish now and i know that i could ring them and it would not be any different!!!
txting is good and quick!! you don't have to wait for a reply but at least it shows that you have thought of them in the rush!

If these are you true friends they will understand what is important to you right now. Of course, as with any relationship, communication is the key. You should at least make time for them on Sundays for a short chat. Just remember they were there for your in the beginning and will be there for you to the end (if you let them).

Sometimes you outgrow your friends. No you don't have to say anything. Anything at all. They'll notice when they stop hearing from you. If you tell them that you find the topic of conversation vacuous, they will be insulted. Just let it go. They say friendships are for a reason or a season. The season may just have ended.

I have as many acquaintances as I had friends when I was a kid. As you become older, I think your good friends become less and your acquaintances become more. But, I think the quality of my friendships are much better. I don't need to talk to my friends every day. We all have busy lives so we just keep up as much as we can.

I would just try to make time for them, everyone needs friends, you don't want to look around in 20 years, and have noone to run and talk to when you are having a tough time in life.Make time for friends!?
