I believe it was Ethel Merman. She used to type up things for the other cast members even after she had become a broadway star. I know she worked in an office, but I'm not positive that she was specifically a file clerk. That's my best guess.

I believe it might be Lillia Skala. Viennese, first woman to graduate as an architect in Austria, later a great stage star, and then fleeing her homeland after the anshlus (German takeover prior to WW II), becoming a broadway and movie star. She won an Academy Award for the role of the reverend Mother playing opposite Sidney Poitier in "Lillies of the Field." She was working in an office when her nomination was announced.

Her granddaughter Libby is an actress and playwright.
