Turn off the lights and go around the room with a blacklight. It should show you where the marks are. There are products in pet stores that will remove odors by killing the bacteria in the urine. However, you have to know where the stain is. If there's too many spots, you will either have to have a professional cleaner come in (one who guarantees they can remove the odor or your money back) or replace the carpet. Animals tend to mark the same areas over and over so hopefully it will be limited to one or two areas. Good luck! I hope you don't have to replace the carpet, but I'd be prepared to do it.

I have a FreshAir air purifer in my home and it controls all odors...especially cat and cat litter odors from my three felines. It keeps the air in my apartment smelling clean and fresh all the time. I bought mine form a local dealer: Environmental Planning Solutions. You can contact them at cleanindoorair@optonline.net for more information. They are very friendly and offer an in-home trial of the purifier if you are interested.

Go to petsmart and buy Natures Miracle (it contains an enzyme that acts on the urine to get rid of it.) Just mix up and spray as needed. Or put it in a carpet cleaner and use.

My sister had that when she bought a modular house. It was the glue from the carpeting and putting it down. And other floorings as well. You have to air them out. Your supposed to for about 2 weeks prior to moving in. I would get fresh air in there as that is not good for you to smell. But yeah, that's what it smelled like!

My husband said our house was "musty" when I'd complained of odor. Turned out to be a gas leak.
Make sure that's not what it is.
