how old and what kind of tank is it? Newer tanks are made from tempered glass to avoid cracking but some of the older ones are not. check with the manufacture as to what type of glass it is.

It sounds to me like the UTH is getting too hot. Put it on a thermostat or a dimmer. This will not only help to keep the temps stable but should also keep the glass from cracking. Also if this helps but your temps are too low try adding a low wattage CHE or an infared bulb to the cool end.

Note: You should NEVER permanatly house two snakes together. Even if they are both male or both female this is a very bad idea as balls have been know to eat one another(even if they are the same size. And if you don't know the sex then it could led to death of both the male and the female. A male snake will continue to breed until it quite litteraly dies from exhaustion and a female that is too young can not handle the strain of pregnancy.

Also, if one bp get mites or an illness can you afford to take them both to the vet? If you separate them and place them into tubs you will find them much easier to care for and you won't have this problem again.

If you are still not comvinced check out this site. http://www.geocities.com/gaballpythons/housing.htm

If you are using a regular human heating pad it is probably getting way to hot, look for a heat pad made for snakes that stays a moderate temp. You might do better with a few heat lamps, a 75 gal tank is really big to keep it heated to the right temps for Ball Pythons. The average inside temp is saposta be just over 80 F and the hot basking spot at about 90. I use a substrate heater made for snakes and a hot rock CAVE, the snake actually goes into the cave and the heat is from the top, never caught any of my snakes on top of the cave they seem to prefer it inside.

never i repeat never eeeevvvvveeeerrrrrr use heating rocks they will burn and possibly kill your reptiles reptiles cant feel heat like we can so they dont know if they are burning themselves or not. You might be getting a uth that is to big for your tank or you might just be getting crappy tanks are you using a regular fish tank or a reptile cage. fish tanks cant take the heat from uth's. and i personally would never house more then one ball python in a tank at a time unless you feed them seperatly for the fact that they could go after the same prey and wind up hurting each other or one killing the other. also i would get a thermostat to regulate the temps from the uth

you may want to get a new heating pad because it is too hot. you may actually burn your snake and that is why your tank is cracking. Talk to your local pet store about lower heating levels on heating pads and turn it off at night because snakes are used to cooler temperatures at night but keep a blanket underneath the rock on top of the glass so that it holds the heat in so it doesn't get too cold.

It may help to put something in between the heating pad and the tank. It is also great to do if you are worried about it being too hot as well. I just use a small hand towel and have the heating pads underneath the towel. My snake is happy and warm and I don't have to worry about it being too hot. And don't worry, it won't start a fire or anything like that :)

My ball python's tanks are raised about half an inch up from the heating pad and I keep it on low during the day, medium at night. If you put it on high it will crack the aquarium and possibly burn your snake from getting too hot.

i'd say they'd desire to in high-quality condition snugly so they gained't slip. as quickly as I performed volleyball, I used the thinnest pads attainable (and concept-approximately basically employing an ace wrap, yet in no way did). the main factor to knee pads is so as that the sweat on your legs won't make you slip once you flow on your knees to dig a ball. the different factor is so as which you would be able to hit the floor greater fearlessly and with much less threat of bruising. so they'd desire to be as tight as attainable, mutually as nonetheless permitting you to bend your knee each and each of how without restrict.

DO NOT USE HEATING ROCKS!!!! these cause waaaaayyyy to many burns, especially with snakes. id use a heating bulb, heating pads usually cause cracks, which if the snake slides over it causing cuts, which can get infected. cut the main source, dont use a heating pad....bulbs and lamps are the way to go. and please do NOT use heating rocks.

try a heat rock instead of the heating pad. The heat pad is pushing up on the glass and causing stress when the weight is on top of it.
