TV is programming for the brain. People who sit around and watch TV all day loose their personality and become Super Consumers. They are always hungry and always need to buy something. (OK This isn’t everyone, but most people) The commercials are meant to replace coherent thought with the “I Need this” mentality. I don’t mind watching TV as long as there is something on that lets you think for your self. I have enough drama in my life to keep things interesting enough and we all know life is hardly a sitcom where we can all just hang out drinking coffee with Jennifer Anaston. OK So well my answer is simply this. To much TV is a bad thing. I think it is a waist of time and these people need to go get a life that it now predetermined by network executives.

TV is entertaining and yes, it can't be mind numbing which is a good thing when you just want to zone out and forget about the crappy day you've had. I can think of much worse things people could do with their time...it's better than going to a casino and gambling all day..it's all relative. I figure I work all day long, I'm entitled to sit on my butt and enjoy some shows. Might as well, I'm paying for the damn cable!

You're right. The average American does spend more time watching the television now than they used to, and that fact is probably one of the leading factors for the alarming obesity rate we are currently at. However, some television shows may stimulate you more intellectually than others and they are good alternatives to the more mind-numbing shows. I'm not saying that sitting in front of a television set all day is good for you, but it is important to do everything in moderation. If we ate in moderation, we wouldn't be so fat. If we went to the doctor in moderation, we wouldn't have diagnoses for ridiculous "diseases" such as restless leg syndrome. Therefore it follows suit that if we watched television in moderation, our brains wouldn't turn to mush. GO PICKUP A BOOK AMERICA!...but remember to read in moderation because reading may retard your social skills. :-p

I soooo agree with you. I just can't sit there going brain dead either. I spose it must be because people who do it are either totally stressed out from their job or they just don't have the motivation/energy to think too much about anything anyway.

PEACE & LOVE & ALL THAT
