Whenever I receive te bill for my subscripions to the WIRED, the New Yorker and the W I am happy, as good things can be so cheap.

Yet, I find it astonishing: How do they do it? What is the pricing strategy? Thnaks in advance

Some magazines and newspapers do not "need" your subscription money. Much of the cost of publication is paid for by advertising. The subscription fee is intended to cover additional costs, like postage, and to demonstrate that the readers are "real" to advertisers.

An advertiser will pay more for a "paying" subscriber than a non-paying one.

Subscriptions are a guaranteed way of showing potential advertisers how many people your magazine reaches and this helps advertiser see why they should use your magazine (newspaper) for their ads
