unless i've had a few drinks, i'm just an overall depressed person....i've been to many shrinks and an on anti-depressants, but they don't seem to do much good most of the time....

my life is going well overall, but just can't ever be "happy" like i used to be when a younger man...or not under the influence of something...

People who don't balance their checkbook often ask "where did all my money go?" I think the first thing you need to do here is to start charting what is going on, when are good days and when are not. An easy way to start is a piece of graph paper. Was today better, worse, or the same as yesterday. Up, down or straight across. Then, after you get accustom to doing that, start to add in descriptions of what makes you happy or sad on specific days.

After some time, you'll start to recognize some patterns and will be in a much better place to start addressing those patterns.

Good luck.

Yeah.

That's common.

First thing is you have to realize happines is circumstantial. Of course, shrinks don't do anything.

I have a hard time accepting psychiatry generally as a legitimate profession. So called intelligence types swear by psychological warfare but, then again, maybe that's why they have to keep a low profile.

They probably have a lot of people after them.

Personally, I hope whoever catches up to them. Any of them. From anywhere.

Not because they're intelligence, but because they're low. Take into consideration the mind bending manipulations young people are subjected to generally, of course it's going to bring you down.

Substances aren't going to do anything even if prescribed.

You have to find your center and stand your ground. This is a difficult time in history in general to do it in. But, as they use to say, To the victor go the spoils.

im the kinda person that relies on others to keep me happy...a boyfriend, or friends, or family..idk if thats bad or not, but i know what u mean, cuz im never happy either. drinking doesnt solve anything, which im sure u already know. whats ur job? maybe go to school, or take some classes, and better yourself. go out and meet people. breathe. write ur feelings down. are u more depressed during the winter or certain times of the year? i suck at advice, but i can relate..feel free to email me anytime.

Start keeping a journal and write in it everyday. Write out thoughts feelings and try to get more and more specific as you go on. Try to find those thoughts and patterns of thoughts and behaviour to see if there is anything there the is repeated. BTW, drinking will only make you more depressed.
