I have been asking this question for a long time, and I thought I would give it another shot.

We now let sex offenders out of prison on parole, often WAY before their sentence is up. In fact, a judge recently gave a sex offender parole, and didn't even send him to jail!

The question is, is there ONE good reason they should be let out of jail? One I have heard is that we should "give them another chance". But shouldn't we ask the parents of a child who has gotten molested by a repeat offender if they think we should give them another chance?

Isn't ONE child (or woman) molested by a repeat offender too many? Is it worth the extra money associated with arresting these people more than once? Wouldn't our country be a LOT safer if, once you were convicted of a sex offense, you were in jail FOREVER?

Of course, I am not talking about statutory rape, like a 19 year old sleeping with a 16 year old, WITH CONSENT. These should be treated separately.

Isn't it sad that WE the taxpayers become irate when the tax man comes around asking for higher wages for law enforcement or more money for prisons, yet we think to ourselves...Why am I to pay MORE taxes when I'm already taxed too much as it is?

We have a responsibility to vote for those who represent what's good about this nation. We also have a responsibility to get rid of those elected officials who let thugs of this nature back on the streets.

There's an old saying "if it weren't for lawyers...we wouldn't need lawyers." Of course when our client is in jail for such a travesty against a young (or old for that matter) victim...our lawyers seek ways to shorten imprisonment terms because we can't build bigger prisons or hire more law enforcement to throw them in...because convicts have more rights than law abiding citizens!

Trust me....as an officer for over 30 years....I've done the best I can on the little wages I'm paid. I'm tired of this system because of people who scream of the injustices done to those who commit the crimes to start with!

Best wishes...see you at the polls!

"Of course, I am not talking about statutory rape, like a 19 year old sleeping with a 16 year old, WITH CONSENT. These should be treated separately."

That's the first problem-they all get sex offender status. Makes no sense and needs to be fixed. I recently saw where a 19 year old got oral sex from a 16 yr old and was sent to prison for life. There was consent but consent from a 16 yr old didn't matter in that state. Oral sex was also illegal there. And there is plenty od weird stories like that.

The second problem is that our prisons and jails are full-and money is needed to build more to imprison these rapists and molesters. US citizens resist any raise in taxes these days-even for such an important reason. New prisons are built and immediately are at capacity or overflowing.

Milton Friedman(are you listening Republicans?) believed in halting the "war on drugs" advocating it was a waste of money, filling prisons with drug users. For instance, if we released everyone in jail or prison for possession or distribution of marijuana, I bet we would have room for the sex offenders-and I would sure prefer that!

I'm not sure of any states, here in the US, that imprison someone for smoking marijuana. It's usually just a fine. You didn't mention which country you are from - so I can only assume it is a muslim country under sharia law. If it is a big time drug smuggler he might get a few years. Of course the vast majority of people who are arrested while committing a crime are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs at the time they committed the crime. Sometimes they will dismiss the most serious crime - say robbery to save money on the prison. A good rule of thumb is they will do 1/4 of the original sentence. We had a case, locally, of a guy on probation who was an accessory to murder both before and after the fact and he didn't go to jail - just got his probation extended. In the old days that would have been life in prison. In my state it is rare for someone to serve more than 10 years. Even a life sentence gets out in ten years and then spends life on probation or parole in his own house while going to work every day. Our Department of Corrections is broke. I would be greatly surprised if there is one single prisoner who is in our prison system for "smoking marijuana". But I'm sure that all of the felons in prisons were regular users of marijuana and other illegal drugs before they were caught and convicted.

Heck no! I dont think there is a good reason. Isn't it true that most sex offenders, commit the same crimes again once they are out on parole?
So ask the same question this way-Can you give me ONE good reason to let a murderer out of prison? no..
that's because there isn't a good reason. If the evidence shows this person did it, then keep em' behind bars where they belong. Not many people are let out of prison, and stay on the straight and narrow... why give a sex offender a second chance??

No. No, I can't.

Sex offenders gave up their rights when they committed their acts. Same with rapists and molesters. No one who molests or violates a human has the right to call themselves one, nor deserves to be treated humanely. Where was the compassion and mercy to the victims or survivors??

I think a case that you might be referring to was in Nebraska where a 5-foot tall convicted child molester was a decade of probation instead of a custodial sentence because he was "too short" to survive in prison.

I love a good question like this.
The problem is that most sex offenders are not sentenced to life.
Once you've done the time, out you go.

It is a shame. There is not any successful treatment for such a crime at this point.
Every case need careful consideration .

Some sex offenders have been wrongfully accused in the first place and should never have gone to prison at all.

I can not give you any reason for sex offenders to get out of prison. They should be locked up and the key thrown out.

There is NO reason in the world they should be let out. They should be put into a small fenced yard and then the family of the child should be allowed in to deal him his punishment. These low life will only continue to do it once let out, there is plenty of evidence to prove that.

would side against you!!! But I believe you are right, &
I agree that there should be alot stiffer punishments for
such evil crimes. Why do so many libberdems think
children should have sex?
