I was thinking about an suv. What do you think would be ideal?

I have a mustang and it is becoming inpractical. I would like something with more room and not get crushed by everything that is bigger.

If you want an SUV, get the Honda CRV, or Toyota RAV4. Good luck ;)

Hey,

I would not do a SUV unless you can afford 20 MPG - gas is going back to 3$ a gallon (on news this weekend) and the insurance will be MORE because SUV's cost more to fix, even if you don't have a crash, you pay more for type of car and age.

I would go with a Saturn - not bad looks, good on the gas, lower insurance, GREAT safety (side airbags/ antiloc etc), priced right and the BEST warranty in the market right now (100,000 miles and it is transferable (which is really great))

The 2007 North American Car of the Year was the Saturn AURA,

it is a 4 door (you were not specific on type but wanted bigger based on SUV comment) , lot of room for friends and when you go back and forth to friends or school.

OR something sporty, little smaller (but not really expensive for a 20 y.o.) - the G5 and it's cool: not a "box" - got lots of great features etc.

hope you find what you are looking for, my 21 yo drives a Pontiac

Jeep Liberties are very nice. I have had one for almost 4 years, and I bought it new. It is a lot of fun to drive, and if you live somewhere with snow or bad weather, they have a great 4wd system. However, they are very lacking when it comes to gas mileage, I can get from 16 to 21, however, it is usually around 17. I still love mine though.

Jeep Wranglers are cool as well. I don't own one...but would love to. They have an exceptional 4wd system, but are once again lacking the fuel economy.

If you are looking for better fuel economy, the Toyota Rav 4 is nice looking, and you may want to look at the new Honda CR-V. They will get better fuel economy, and they are cool looking. They won't have as good a 4wd system as a Jeep however, so I guess it depends where you live and how important it is to you.

Good luck!

well you didnt mentio if ya have kids/pets etc which was making the mustang impractical, but if you really need a suv, look into a durango. seats as many as a suburban, more manueverable, higher towing capacity than a half ton suburban, and v-8 power, so you wont miss the acceleration. older durangos are fairly common on the market, and have a high safety rating. consumer reports is a poor source for info, for them whoever pays the most gets the best rating. simple fact is, anything based on a truck is going to be stronger and safer in a accident.

an SUV would be good, but just remember if you get an SUV everytime you go somewhere with your friends you'll have to take your car and that means you pay for the gas. I'm 21 and I have a mustang it has no backseat so we always take my friends SUV

It depends on the primary purpose you need it for. If you commute, a good reliable Honda Civic is good on gas. If you like taking road trips a lot, then Rav4 is a good SUV. If money is not an object, then go for the ultimate Escalade.

Don't get anything practical. You will be driving an SUV or minivan when you have kids. Get a 2 seat convertible. If you live in the US and care about the economy, buy American.

For a 20-year-old female, I think you should get something small, cute and easy on gas. Go for the Kia Rio or the Toyota Prius Hybrid, which gets over 60 miles/gallon in the city!!

No on the SUV. Way too much in gas. Get a sporty Honda Civic, they look cool, and they get great gas mileage.
