The reason why it matters is because it's offensive and racist against caucasians. I don't care about what "color" or ethnicity someone is, there should only be one type of award show or pageant that EVERYBODY is welcome to compete in. A lot of people think there is no such thing as racism against whites because they don't think it's a color. I know a black person who agrees with me. My Iroquois ancestors were slaves and had no freedom and they don't get as much credit and they shouldn't because no one should. But if Black people can have their own, then so should all East Indians, Caucasians, and all Indian nations.
Also, I as a caucasian have faced discrimination for being "white", so it's not just black people. Why get so angry? I am offended but I'm not angry.

A lot of these pagents and awards show were created when blacks werent allowed to even step foot inside the "white" pagents and white "award" shows. Hattie McDaniel won an oscar award and couldnt even attend the show b.c she was black....THAT is why these black shows were created.

It's another form of racism.
They seem to think two wrongs make a right.

natasha,
they aren't the only race that hasn't been president, or discriminated, Oh and mexican's and native american's were slaves too. And what do you mean any REAL power. I've seen some VERY powerfull black people in office. In fact, Colorado had a black governor. So your attitude of codling is only supressing them more.
Why don't they get over an incedant that happened over 200 years ago.

That is what happens when you exclude people for something as small as skin color they create their own versions of the ruling classes events... don't cry over something that your people helped to create

I'm always amazed at the things people on these questions and answers come up with. How does this matter and who really cares? Does it change anything for anyone? Are beauty pageants a think to even think about for more than 3seconds. Get a life.

How's THAT for equality? Hehe. Well, we all know that two wrongs always make a right.

America practices "equality with preference".

Is it fair that people of color haven't been President, are subject to daily discrimination - ignorance - and harrasment, are continually forced to forget their culture and heritage, don't have "real" power in this country, etc...

It's just an award, get over it.

Why do you care, in what why does that effect you? Why is fair that black people are always judged as a whole?
