we are putting a metal roof on our house. How do we walk on what we have already installed?

If the metal roof is too steep to walk on you will need to tie a safety line along the ridge and tie-off to that. This is something that should be engineered by a Safety professional.

Build a wooden ladder out of 2x4's that is 4-6'long. round the edges of the vertical members on one side. Make the width of the ladder so that it fits between the corrugations on the metal, and you can walk on the ladder. It works!. Don't make it too long or it will be cumbersome to move. You may want to make two so that you can move one while you are on the other. The ladder will lay in the valleys and as you continue to install..you move it over.

I like to put one foot in front of the other, but hey that's me. You may find another way of walking.
What is your concern here, traction of the metal deck or what?

try to step on the beam below the metal. Just put a little pressure to make sure that you are stepping in the right place then move on to the next one.
