You can use regular detergent but use only a third of the amount called for. And be sure to run a cycle with plain vinegar once a month to prevent soap buildup.

Yes you do need to use special detergent. High Effeciency detergent is more concentrated to work in the reduced amount of water used by front load or HE top loaders so simmilar results can be attained by using 1/3 the amount of regular detergent. However this is not an exact replacment!!! 1/3 regular deturgent does not have the same cleaning ability as HE detergent. Also, HE detergent is low sudsing (sp?) for used with very high spin speeds. it is usually made by common brands and is available at your local supermarket.

I have a front loading washer as well. Any types of detergents will work.
Just remember that a front loading washer saves you water because it doesn't use as much water as a top loading washer. Therefore, since there is less water, you should use a lower amount of detergent than what the detergent box/bottle recommends. You're close will still come out just as clean as before.
Congratulations on your purchase! I love mine and I hope you love yours too! They're great!

Yes, you do need to use the special detergents. They are actually cheaper than regular detergent because you are able to use so much less. I had a repairman tell me that people that use regular detergent at the same level as regular washers can damage the washer.

No, that is not necessary.
It is muy importante, however, that you NOT use as much detergent as you have in the past. Use half or less than what you used before.
I have the same type of washer and you will screw it up if you put too much soap in.

You have to have fewer suds in a front loader. This is why they make the low suds detergent hi efficiency.

We use HE type soap, like Tide HE. It costs the same as regular Tide. Our manufacturer (Whirlpool) recommended it.
