Lately my right breast has been hurting...not a sharp pain, but a dull soreness. Its on the side of my breast towards my armpit..when I press on the spot, it hurts, almost the same feeling as pressing on a bruise. I can't feel any bumps, it doesn't hurt constantly all day, just every once in a while. Its been going on for a few days now. It doesn't feel like its a muscle problem. I am really scared. I'm only 20 years old. I have no clue what it is. Does anyone have any ideas?

You could have bumped into something, or pulled a muscle without being aware of doing so.Wait a few more days to see if a bruise does appear. We often have little aches and pains that are simply nothing and no medical explanation. If the pain or soreness intensifies, please go and have an exam. It is just a precautionary measure. You are very young, do not assume the worst. Like I said, if it persists, go to the Dr.,this way you will not drive yourself crazy worrying over nothing.

Please check out this site. It's most likely NOT breast cancer, but you should be checked out as soon as possible just to rule out that possibility. The site lists these possible causes:
Oral contraceptive pills
Hormone replacement therapy
Weight gain
Bras that do not fit properly
Tumors (most painful tumors do not usually indicate breast cancer; however, all abnormalities should be examined by a physician. For example, some patients with inflammatory breast cancer describe "stabbing pains" in the breast.)

I know exactly what you mean, I started having pains when I was 14, and when my mom took me to the doctor, the doctor assured me that it was common and that the pain can occur during the time of your period or by attributed to other factors (stress, caffine, etc). But it typically isn't serious. But if you truly feel scared, go to the doctor for more information about your situation.

lymphatic tissue that is underneath the armpit can become sore sometimes. This soreness could be due to a mild infection.
also some soreness is not uncommon around menstral periods.

My sister had a similar situation. It ended up being a cyst (which still needs medical attention). Go see your doctor right away. It's better to get it checked out!!

It is hormonal...it will likely come and go thru your cycle; hurting the most from the time you ovulate until your period...heat will help as will any pain killer...

It could be a cyst, or an ingrown hair, or something serious. You need to have it checked by a doctor.
