I was in a hospital the other day and I almost lost it. Even in this greatest nation on God's green earth there is tremendous suffering. The hour approaches where we all shall draw our last breath. When death comes for you and if it is asked, have you lived, what will be your answer?

That would be Gabby, a female crocodile that hangs around in a certain place I frequent. Due to some drunken indiscretions I'm afraid she has it in for me. So after removing yet another set of Crocodile teeth from my sorry @ss , I sneakily let her swallow an old fashioned alarm clock when she snapped at me again. It worked for captain Hook and works great for me to. I know what time it is when I hear it ticking, time to look around wearily and take evasive action.

I hear my clock ticking every second of the day, in one way or another. When death comes for me I will say that I have done the best I could, and that I did live at times when I had the courage to do so.

In a manner of speaking, yes. Not in the same regard as you or any other human being. My answer would be no, I have not lived. Yet at the same time there are no regrets in my young life.

"But at my back I always hear,
Time's winged chariot hurrying near.."
(Andrew Marvell : To His Coy Mistress)

Have I lived? Not with the ease and lightheartedness that some at least seem to do it, but I've wrestled with life enough to know I've been in full contact with it.

I can't say that I've lived but I can say that I've done what I was meant to do. But I'm working on the living part.
