Hey Nina,

"Boomerang" (1974), is a video by Richard Serra in which the artist taped Nancy Holt as she talks and hears her words played back to her after they have been delayed electronically. Because of the delay, Holt finds it very difficult to talk and even think. In Serra's words, "[This] is a tape which analyzes its own discourse and processes as it is being formulated. The language of Boomerang, and the relation between the description and what is being described, is not arbitrary. Language and image are being formed and revealed as they are organized."

well, rustskipp has done all the homework on this one...Boomerang is also the name of the daily newspaper in Laramie, Wyo. which was founded by american humorist Bill Nye, who established it in the area he rented above a stable, he kept his pet mule in the stable below the paper, and the mule's name was Boomerang so he named the paper after the mule. he would frequently proofread copy to Boomerang...there is a story behind that, but you'll have to look it up...
