Soccer is bad *** i love it. But the rest of the U.S. doesn't like it b/c there is not constent action. For example a car goin 200 mpr or a 6'2", 260 pound line baker lookin to take the head off someone. Soccer is on the rise though and will be in this country soon. In 3 years when the world cup comes around and the U.S. comes with a team that can makes a good run for the cup then we will see it more often. USA ALL THE WAY

More people love the game than you realize. More and more are playing.
You hear a very vocal base of American's saying howing boring it is, but there are still many, like myself, who have been playing since 4 or 5 years old.
My theory, regarding the vocal supporters of the 'boring' view, is that the traditional big three - baseball, basketball and football don't require as much time to learn or play to become good. It's easier to support a sport you can play.

Lots of reasons. One the sporting calendar is already filled from late August to late Janurary with football. From November to mid June its basketball. From April to October its baseball. That means the whole year is already booked. In most of the rest of the rest of the world(soccer is booked for most of the year) whether club team or national team. Also, the media doesn't provide good coverage and thus people are going to think its boring.

I guess they want to see score after score like basketball or football (football with the 6 for touchdown and +1 the field goal or 2pts if they go for it after the touchdown) meanwhile soccer they say that is boring b/c they go back and forth all that running and not scoring, but then I wonder why do Americans love baseball? you know since baseball you have 9 innings and sometimes teams win it by one run. I guess baseball is for you ppl and old ppl (ppl in their late 30's sometimes early 40's)

Soccer is a very low scoring sport. NBA games usually have a combine total score around 200 points. In the NFL, each possesion is valuable and turnovers are kept to a minimum. In soccer turnovers occer every couple of seconds.

because the USA is a very traditionalised country - baseball and american football are the two main sports over there (along with ice hockey and basketball) so even if soccer is a better sport, many of the americans wont realise it because they dont have the chance to break the tradiotion

There's enough support for Soccer in the US to make them a potential force.

I wonder the same thing considering they think baseball is much more exciting. Soccer is a much better sport than any other in the U.S. They simply don't understand it so they mock it.
