I'm a brown skin A. American with dry and blotchy skin. I'm going out on a date this weekend for my birthday and I want to look blemish free for my date. I want to try Covergitl Tru Blend but I don't want to be disapointed. I knwo I should buy the moose, concelor and powder. How should I apply it and how can I look blemish free and natural.

And why not practice right now? Better to find some things that work now than wait for the day and then trial and error.

if you dont already wear makeup and youre a first-timer, your best bet it to go with powder. DONT USE COVERGIRL! their products arent good for african americans even though they have a line for us. and on top of that, they test on and kill animals. you should order bareminerals makeup for about 21$ per pot (and it lasts about 9 months to a year) or loreal true match makeup for about 10$ a pot (and it lasts abut 5 months to six months). at the drugstore, just ask one of the attendants to math your color up and theyll do it the right way. however, the bareminerals will have to come in the mail unless you live near a bareessentuals store.
the bareminerals is more natural than the loreal, but both look quite well. if you dont regularly wear makeup, please do not let mousse be your first experience and let that first experience happen two hours before a date. youll never want to wear makeup again. i say you should go for the bareminerals. it will last you a very long time to cost only twenty dollars and for twenty dollars more you can throw in a pore minimizing sheer powder called mineral veil that lasts just as long. i have it and i love it to death. im never seen in public without it.

apply your mousse foundation on your t zone (nose, apples of cheeks and forehead) blend in a little on your chin and then smoothe on the rest of your face. when applying on your cheeks go in a outward upward motion making sure you dont drag and pull your skin. you can use a wedge latex sponge or a foundation brush. don't forget to get a little on your eye lids and under your eyes. foundation is basically ised to even out the skin tone so make sure you get the effect of even skin.blend in a bit of concealer under your eyes using your fingers or a rounded tightly packed concealer brush in a light patting motion. it should be 2 shades lighter than your skin. you can also apply concealer to problem areas like zits using the same patting motion to blend it into your foundation. if you want a natural look you can try cheek tint gel or creme to powder cheek tint or even mousse blush on. if you are darjer skinned you can try wine colored tint or creme to powder blush. you can also try something in a light pink-pink shade for powder blush, you can also be safe with bronzer. apply some shimmery (nude) eyeshadow to your eyelids using an eyeshadow brush. you can also blend in a little brown from the corner of your eyes going inward and stopping 3/4 of the way. highlight your brow bome with the shimer nude and blend in some metallic white shadow. dust your face with powder to set the makeup, be careful not to erase any work. line your lower lids with black pencil. curl your lashes then add mascara. you can use whatever color lipgloss you want but for the occassion you can try a deep berry gloss or a shimmery pink one too. good luck and happy birthday. the person above me is right. practice and have fun with makeup. you'll learn alot from experiments!

ps try to blend down to the neck so that you don't have an unsightly obvious foundation line.

Do a peeling and mask two days before the date so your skin looks the best on that day!

You can apply the mousse either with your fingers, a sponge or a foundation brush...I always make the experience that concealer looks better when I apply them with my fingers.....powder of course with a brush!

Here's what to do: go to your local mall and hit up the makeup counter. Ask for a makeover. They will do your entire face for free and make you look LOVELY (also giving you great tips and giving you perfect color matches for your skin). I usually buy wahtever lipstick they used on me because that is what really pulls it together. GOOD LUCK! And happy birthday!!!
