Nothing is free in America - if they cant tax it then it is ILLEGAL. For example , if they can find a way to tax the sale of marijuana, they will legalize it. It wont matter the children affected by the legal use of it by their parents in their homes as long as the government is making money too. It is ridiculous.

The Law you are refering to is about running an online casino in the US. Not about gambling on one.
Also, that bill passed in the House of Representatives. In the USA you need both the House and the Sentate to make a bill into a law. You can still gamble online.
If you want to read more about it, check out the link below.

If we were all free to hurt ourselves with the most dangerous addictions known to Humankind,
then we would not be free to refrain from the constant worry we'd feel about our sons and daughters who have fallen into them.
We are far too concerned with individual freedoms in the West.
All for the self, and nothing for the responsibility we bear to others.
And for that reason, we need the law in the first damned place.
Other people would realize they had a problem and get help, but no, not the ever-loving radically "independent" American.

As free as free can be with a few guide lines of course. Just think If we were without some restrictions Crimes would be outrageous. Some people can not control themselves. There would be more murders, more robberies and raps etc.

Gambling is a "very important" freedom? I think not.
And FYI you're free to gamble all you want over the internet, you just can't pay via credit card.

none of us is absolutely free, no matter where we live. as a member of a certain society, you should respect its rules, whether they seem unjust or not ; or, you can always protest (peacefully, of course).
gambling, however, does not seem to me like "one very important freedom" - you can certainly live without gambling, can't you ?

It is total greed you are right. You are as free as the government feels you should be. They do not see it as taking away your rights they see it as they are not profiting off of it why should you.

We don't have a constitutional right to gamble.
Write your legislators and urge them to change the law, if you are so inclined.
