Phillip Rivers was injured.

Tom Brady was the first choice to replace Rivers, but he declined the invitation saying he wanted to play in a golf tournament instead. besides, he plays for the patriot coaching staff all year long.

Steve McNair declined too because he wanted to give his close friend Vince Young a chance to play in the game because McNair has already been there before.

Rivers was elected but opted out because of a hurt ankle, and Brady was playing golf in pebble beach.

McNair, Pennington, or Young aren't really pro bowlers, but Young went becuase he's the hot new thing (and by the way almost blew the game with that fumble).

Losman and Carr have been not greater valuable than Vince youthful this season. Brady, Pennington, and McNair i think of have been banged up and perchance had to relax extremely of vacationing. Vince youthful isn't the final option to be a expert-bowler, yet he did do a ton for the Titans this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days.

Rivers was the 3rd stringer, but his hurt ankle took him out. Brady got the next most votes but he had committed himself to a golf tournament. Vince had the next most votes. People probably voted him because he would be exciting to watch (though sadly only ran 3 times, and only 1 was "big").

Popularity, shear athletic ability...

Joe P hit the nail on the head though when he stated that he carried the team.
It is much easier to put up great numbers when you have a good supporting cast and Vince plays on a team of bums

Remember, I forget what percentage, but the players have most of the voting power as to who gets into the Pro Bowl. So obviously they thought he was the most deserving.

He was rookie of the year, had pretty good stats considering he only got to play in 12 of the games and didnt have any good receivers to throw to.
