Cultural prerogatives are best established by each culture in question. If you are a Christian female and you want to go to some Muslim countries, dress inappropriately and try to preach publicly from the bible, you could be arrested and imprisoned (or worse).

Canada, Saudi Arabia, France, North Korea, Nigeria, China, Germany, Cuba...which of these countries would you say MUST adapt to YOUR cultural norms if you decide to live there?

America is more tolerant (thank God). But I still want there to be an American culture that's distinguishable from the rest of the world.

In the USA right now there is no need for any group of immigrants or minorities to integrate. Most all groups come here and expect America to change her ways to accommodate them.
And change she does, thanks in large part to corporations marketing and catering to, for one example, Hispanics. Heck, you don´t even need to speak the language to get a drivers license.
When people from Europe immigrated to America 3 or 4 generations ago if they did not assimilate they could not eat, work or find a place to live. Not to mention their kids would not be allowed to attend school speaking German, Norwegian, Italian.......etc.
To assimilate to a country´s manner of being does not mean to give up your heritage, culture and traditions. It means to adapt to life in a new environment as to not upset your gracious hosts.
I believe the more pressing question must be, how far can immigrants push America to change before she pushes back? Hopefully before she has her back against a wall.
