You were right to walk out...lol. The deal sucks. I can't imagine the ungodly interest rate in that 560 a month for 72 months. I wonder if they stuck a balloon payment in there too.
As far as legality, that would depend where you are. I see nothing that sounds illegal on principle, unless you're contending (and have proof) that they lied to you in order to induce you to sign the purchase contract.

Because a lease you can walk out on at the end, with the buying it, you are STUCK for those 72 months. I've bought 6 new cars and leased 1 in my life and every dealership except for one (Tom Bush Autoplex in Jax, Fl - Steve Garcia) has been a blatant rip off or lie. Or should I say....they TRIED to rip me off. I'm a very smart woman and learned my lesson the first time. So the other 5 cars and one leased one, were on good terms, not jacked up prices or costs. Good luck and congrats on walking out!

Good job, you shouldn't lease anyway..too much hassle involved. But you also shouldn't buy for more than 36 months. 72 mnths is stupid because you will owe more on your car than it's worth. You should take the 2000 down and buy a quality used car. Much better investment.

Good for you on walking out!!
I'm not sure how the leasing goes down but I'm pretty sure that if they finance a loan for you they get a kick back for it. A few hundred bucks I think.
If that is the case that may explain why they wanted to sell instead of lease.

You walked out?? Keep going. There are many places that would be happy to lease to you (with good credit and a good driving record). Sounds like they just want to get rid of the car,, Don't fall for it.

sounds like a car dealer being a car dealer and advertising a good deal and then only offering it to the owner's wife and everyone else gets shafted. It's hard for me to see past the car dealer thing and see a person, since they're all so damn sleazy.

dealers are aholes these days...they just want to finance you and get the most money they can...my mom went in just to look and was getting the loan from her credit union and they wouldn't even tell her how much money the car would cost until she filled out a credit application with the dealer! go to another dealer, tell them what happened at the last one and they will probaby help you out.

You were wise to walk out and never return to that place. Unfortunately, there are dishonest dealers out there. They make more money off of you on the latter deal so they wanted to take advantage of you. Good for you.

i would have walked too...the newest form of descrimination is with your credit score..you may want to check into your credit and see if there is something messing it up..alot of times there is something that is messing you up that is either a mistake or easily cleared up.
