Chip is an adult male whos been alone for some time. Do not put him immediately in the cage with Stewie. You should quarintine Stewie in a room away from Chip for about 1 month. New pigs can bring in things unknowingly. Mites, Fleas, or sickness. Keep them seperate for a month. If Stewie is health and pest free then get a small pen together on the floor. DO NOT place either inside each others cages. ALSO be sure you have Stewie double checked to be sure hes male. Many places dont always do a good job on telling males from female guinea pigs especially if Stewie is a baby.
Get the pen on the floor set up with large space, some hiding places and have a bucket or piece of board handy. Then place Stewie and Chip together at same time. Have the board or bucket in your hands incase of a fight DO NOT PUT YOUR HANDS IN TO SAVE THEM.... they will bite you no matter how nice they are too you before. They will not recognize you when they are fighting and can give you a very severe bite that can result in nerve damage. They have long front teeth and can sink into muscle and skin very easy!!! I have a few scars myself. Seperate them and then when they calm down you can grab them. If you hear a sound like they are clicking there teeth and raising there heads in a bobbing fashion then they will fight. If they are coo and chugging and chasing each other around thats ok they are just getting to know each other. Remember even if Stewie and Chip are males they will try to mate each other and may not leave each other alone for a long time. Always introduce them on nuetral territory. IF tehy get along here you can eventually graduate them into the same cage as long as that cage is very large. they say 2 square feet for every guinea pig. So you need a pretty large cage to keep them both happy. If raised and bred and rescued guinea pigs for 17+ years. For show and rescue.

Hello, well it seems like they never got along if you were seeing them mount each other and the odd teeth chattering. A lot of times new guinea pigs don't get along with the older one especially in males since there is a dominance issue. The best thing to do is to seperate them, but you can also try to reintroducing them in neutral territory. Here is how, place the new and old guinea pig in a room he they have never seen or been in before. Watch them closely to see how they do with each other. If they start fighting seperate them. Also you will need to completely clean out the cage and disinfect it to get rid of any smells or markings the older guinea pig made. If you seem them getting along well in the neutral territory try placing them in the cage and watch how they interact. If they start fighting again then you will probably have to seperate them for good or you can keep trying the introduction in the neutral territory again. :)

keep them in their own cages in seperat rooms for the first three weeks just in case your new one has something so that chip doesn't get it. then slowly introduce them in a neutral space. some guinea pigs will bond enough to be cage mates and others wont.

I would keep them separte. Chip has been in his own cage for 2 yrs, so that is his space. We have tried to put two guinea pigs toether and it didn't work. We ended up giving the 2nd guinea pig to our neighbor. Good luck.

BE CAREFUL! Do not put the two males in the same cage because they will fight and sometimes they will fight to death so make sure u keep Stewie in a seperate cage.

basically wait and notice with them. it could take a mutually as for guinea pigs to get used to human beings. i've got had my guinea pigs for approximately 4 months now and that they nonetheless run removed from me and conceal as quickly as I come into the room. If I sit down nonetheless in there however, they're going to ultimately come out and be favourite. I take mine out for some million/2 an hour to an hour for cuddles and that they get an hour or greater of grass time surprisingly plenty every day, so basically shop doing what you're doing, yet once you go with to be sure swifter progression of their behaviour, take them out for longer sessions of time and contain them on your on a regular basis recurring. they're referred to as guinea PIGS for a reason! you may attempt to muddle prepare them in case you have the staying power for that. there are a number of web content and YouTube movies which could coach you the way to try this. that would help decrease down on the mess. i've got basically come to the top that that's what they choose of their cage, so basically enable them to do it. i'm going to place their bins and hideys the way i choose, yet day after right this moment, they have moved all of them and that's a pigsty in there. :D i do no longer comprehend approximately windex. i take advantage of vinegar to bathe my cages. that's organic and there is no chemical compounds in it. I additionally now and returned use dishwashing detergent. yet whichever one i take advantage of, I be sure I rinse it off incredibly nicely, basically in case the piggies can get unwell from it. Bedding is a private decision with guinea pigs, i've got stumbled on. i take advantage of fleece bedding and locate that it incredibly works incredibly nicely for me, yet i comprehend guinea pig proprietors that use wood shaving and CareFresh and all varieties of alternative stuff that they swear via. you would be able to desire to attempt Aspen shavings and notice if it makes a difference on your cage. solid good fortune with each and every little thing!

Guinea pigs ARE social and SHOULD be kept with a friend. I've paired over 100 pairings of males now, and they do not fight, generally, if you're using proper care and proper cage sizes as mentioned above.
SOME will fight, but it depends mainly on their personalities, just like people.
