without kobe the young lakers lack confidence to excell in a showcase game/series consistently...kobe went 5-13 with 8tos lamar went 6-17 smush went 3-14...the team essentially shot very poorly...39% from the field with 20% threes...shooting like that it doesnt matter who is playing...you lose...

Back when Kobe & Shaq played, Kobe was the biggest ballhog in the history of ballhogs! Question: What do pigs do when they play basketball? Answer: HOG THE BALL!
But honestly, the Kobe of today isn't really that much of a ballhog like he used to be. He gets his shots in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Quarters and some drop, others don't. But in the 4th Quarter, he really takes over. If that's your star, that is who you go to at crunch time.
Kobe wasn't hogging the ball that much against the Cavs. You only become that way, when your teammates start relaxing and don't make shots. The game of his life is of course, the time he scored 81 against Toronto on January 22, 2006. When you make a shot, start heating up, and your teammates keep getting it to you, take advantage! Only when they stop dropping, then you go to your teammates. He learned a powerful lesson when the Diesel left L.A. for a better town, better city, and a player who really knows how to share the ball (Dwyane Wade). After that, he stopped being selfish (not completely) enough to when L.A. made the playoffs again the year after Shaq left. Let's hope he keeps that lesson in mind.

Kobe has been known as a ball hogger in the past and he was....but he has changed into a team player the past couple years....yesterday cav's game was on of those games that his teammates were just flat out suck, he gotta let it fly to give the team a chance to win....the cavs were double teammed kobe for the last 3 minutes of the game and what did his teammates do? they laid an egg....i think he hogged the ball during the game but that was for the best of the team....take a look at the rest of the team, they couldnt even score if a little midget was guarging them....for all of you ignorant kobe haters out there, kobe leads the team in assists and he is suppose to be a primary scorer, eat that stats....you cant fault the best scorer (not stat wise) in the league to defer when there are many times game plans are not working and teammates are not showing up to play....last year's game vs toronto, if it wasnt for kobe went crazy they would have got killed for 50 pts.....for all of your ignorants out there, kobe is damned either ways....

Yes Kobe was a ball hog yesterday and the old Kobe emerged. But I think that was more out of desperation than anything. I think Kobe decided to take over because his team was looking at it's third loss in a row and going back to LA 3-5 on this road trip. Although they lost anyway, he felt like taking control was the only thing he could do.

no he is not a ball hogger, kobe passed it to lamar odom in the fourth qrter and maybe four or five times lamar passed up the open shot. kobe bryant shot 12/24 from the field yesterday afternoon against the cavs. that = 50 percent which is rly rly good. plus if you're on fire like he was in the beg of the fourth making the first 14 pts, why would you stop shooting if they keep going in? honestly, all these other answers are from ppl who are ignorant, or lost respect for kobe because of his rape case. . .

Yeah Ok, and I bet everybody who answered this question so far didn't even watch that game yesterday. What else was he gonna do, noboby else was playing good if he hadn't stepped up he would've gotten blamed either way. everybody knows Kobe is not ballhogging this year and you know he's not a rapist so stop bringing that up, "BOB", it has nothing to do w/ the question. If you didn't "care" then why did you respond! Exactly! Because you are a hater and you know it. I'm so sick of people saying that kobe is a rapist. Just because YOU don't like him that has nothing to do with whether he did it or not he was not proven guilty therefore he's not guilty!!!!

good point black buttafly! you people dont know if he raped her, you werent there. jackasses! anyway, he is not a ball hog, he does what he has to do. if you are on fire, you will keep getting the ball thats the way it is. the rest of the lakers are not consistant like kobe, so if he feels like he needs to take over then he will, because he can. for all you kobe haters: if you hate him so much, dont watch him play. and nash has lots of assists because hes a poing guard and last time i check, the job of the point guard is to dish the ball out.

He hogs the ball in every game he plays in. He talks trash about Gilbert Arenas taking selfish shots, but that's all he does. He is the reason why Shaq left and the reason why the Lakers won't get past the first round of the playoffs, that is if they even make the playoffs.

kobe is not a ball hogger. the only reason why he "hogged" the ball was because nobody else on his team was making shots and that resulted in a loss.
